Solid Signs of Success

In the first half of 2010 we’ve seen a number of positive trends toward global economic recovery, which give us good reason to be optimistic and plan for continued growth moving forward.

According to many sources including The Economic Times,  the U.S. economic recovery is quite solid. In a recent interview with Senior Investment Strategist Abby Joseph Cohen of Goldman Sachs, she states that she is “very optimistic that the recovery in exports and corporate investments will put the incipient recovery in the U.S. economy on firm footing.”

At NOSHOK, we have seen solid growth and remain poised to support your efforts.

By maintaining strong inventory levels, competitive pricing, 1st quality products, and dedicated customer service we strive to continually build our relationships with our distribution partners as a company you can count on through both challenging times and good times.

We have a number of new plans in the works, including our Product Guide available in Spanish, new consolidated catalogs, ongoing monthly website promotions, and training videos, so keep an eye on our website for announcements!

UPDATE:

200 & 300 Series Switches

200 & 300 Series Switches

We have upgraded our 200 and 300 Series Mechanical Switches to provide increased versatility, along with significantly improved repeatability and contact ratings.

Both the 200 and 300 Series Switches now provide an increased switching frequency of 100 cycles per minute, and improved switching repeatability of ±2.0%. They also feature superior contact ratings: AC up to 250 V - 4 A, and DC up to 28 V - 2 A, and are RoHS compliant.

Other improvements include adjustable hysteresis in the 300 Series Switch (10-30% of switch point), and the 200 Series Switch function is now SPDT. Both switches are available in a variety of ranges.

The 200 Series Switch is constructed with an external adjustment screw for ease of setting the switching point on-site. This switch operates using a high quality diaphragm or piston element to open or close a micro switch. It is also available in special versions with stainless steel or brass housing and gold contacts for low switching currents.

The 300 Series Switch features a rugged zinc plated steel housing and process connection, and uses proven diaphragm or piston type sensing technology to provide excellent reliability, repeatability, and affordability. Its micro switch contacts are silver plated for extended  service life and exceptional dependability, and its switching functions are field adjustable while under pressure.

Application Insight

THE APPLICATION OF DIAPHRAGM SEALS (CHEMICAL SEALS) TO AGGRESSIVE MEDIA

WE ALSO SUPPLY DIAPHRAGM SEALS FOR SANITARY APPLICATIONS WHERE 3A APPROVAL IS REQUIRED!

A diaphragm seal is a device that is designed to isolate and/or protect a pressure measuring instrument from corrosive, viscous, contaminated or very high temperature process media. The pressure measuring element of the measuring device, and the instrument connection port are filled with a suitable liquid, utilizing state of the art vacuum filling technology, making pressure measurement a direct and simple process.

NOSHOK Diaphragm SealsPressure, when applied to the surface area of the diaphragm causes it to flex and transfers the pressure through the fill fluid to the attached pressure gauge, transducer, switch or any pressure measuring device for measurement indication.

Aggressive process media can be categorized as follows:

  1. Chemically aggressive (corrosive) media with extremely high or low PH levels
  2. Erosive media
  3. Media that can polymerize and plug in small openings
  4. Highly viscous or media with high sediment that can plug
  5. Extremely high temperature media

Most often, when these conditions exist, a protective barrier can be efficiently installed to protect the pressure measurement device.  The diaphragm seal or chemical seal comes in a variety of sizes and configurations to fit into almost any process installation.

Diaphragm seals can be installed with capillary tubing and can be filled with high temperature rated fill fluid to protect the instrument from excessive heat.  NOSHOK diaphragm seals can be installed with pressure gauges, pressure switches, pressure transducers and transmitters, and differential pressure gauges.  We offer various materials of construction to offer protection in highly corrosive media and can often supply it with NPT or flange process connections.

Think of NOSHOK when you are faced with aggressive media, and allow us to offer some ideas for a successful and safe installation.

NOSHOK Mini Valve Patented

NOSHOK Mini Valve PatentedOur 150 Series Mini Valve has received a patent  for its body-to-bonnet Delrin® non-rotating soft tip stem design, which significantly increases the pressure range of the valve without compromising the flow. This patented design also helps to maintain the integrity of the bonnet threads by segregating them from the process media.

This compact and rugged valve features a back-up metal-to-metal seal, and has a maximum pressure rating of 6,000 psi for stainless steel and steel models; 3,000 psi for brass. The NOSHOK mini valve is built for maximum durability and robust performance in the toughest applications. It is available in electroless nickel plated steel, electropolished stainless steel and brass.  A Viton® O-ring seal and Teflon® back-up ring below the stem threads protect from corrosion and galling. Teflon® or Grafoil® packing are optional. All stems are 316 stainless steel and are rolled for ease of operation.

This durable mini valve is also available in a hard seat model (100 Series), which offers a maximum pressure of 10,000 psi for stainless steel and steel models; 6,000 psi for brass.

All NOSHOK Valves are 100% helium leak tested to 1 x 10 ml/s for guaranteed performance and reliability.

  Tech Tip

Q: What fill fluids options are available, and in what applications would each be used? NOSHOK Brass Gauges
A:

Glycerine is the most common fill fluid.  Because of its unique fluid properties, Glycerine has become the standard for liquid filled gauges (see “What is the purpose of liquid filling a gauge?”). Glycerine’s clarity, viscosity, stability, cost, solubility, low toxicity make Glycerine an ideal fluid for many applications.  Mineral oils and silicone fluids are used when temperature extremes, chemical compatibility or viscosity fall outside of Glycerine use.  Halocarbon is an inert fluid that is compatible with chlorine, oxygen service some high temperature applications.  Keep in mind that Glycerine is not compatible with strong oxidizers such as oxygen, chlorine, hydrogen peroxide, or nitric acid. Glycerine & Silicone are explosive in contact with chlorine. Halocarbon is explosive in contact with aluminum and magnesium.
